About Jonah
Jonah is 8 years old and lives at home with his Mum, Dad and dog Rusty.
When Jonah was 4 years old, he was diagnosed with a rare and aggressive form of cancer, he underwent two years of chemotherapy, Proton Beam therapy, surgeries and lived with a tracheostomy. Jonah rang the bell in 2023.
Through his treatment Jonah never slowed down, he finished each round of chemotherapy with a late-night ride around the ward on his light up scooter and would race his doctors and nurses to the treatment room every morning where he would have his magic proton beams. On the last day of treatment, the doctors & nurses on the unit all lined up and raced him to the finish line.
Jonah loves all things football and supports LFC; he is his teams No 4 and his teammates call him Mini Van Dijk. Jonah’s proudest moment was leading his team out with his captain big Van Dijk as official mascot.
Jonah is very proud to be an Ambassador for the Owen McVeigh Foundation, he loves attending events and welcoming new children to the foundation family, he is excited to help in every way he can.
Jonah said
“I am so excited to be an ambassador and being an Owen McVeigh boy makes me feel very proud. A good ambassador is someone who can show people what the Owen McVeigh foundation can do to help kids like me, someone who can welcome the children and make them feel at home and that they belong here with us … I’m always happy to help “
