A big welcome to our first young person’s ambassador Alfie Turner

About Aflie

We would like to introduce you to our first young person’s ambassador for the Owen McVeigh Foundation.

Alfie is now 11 years old (2024). He was 5years old when he was diagnosed with ALL (Acute Lymphoblastic Leukaemia.  He finished his treatment in 2022 and is now doing really well.

When Alfie was undergoing his treatment, he was the model patient. The staff always knew when he had arrived for his treatment on the unit as he would usually make quite an entrance. He would treat us to a form of dance, usually a breakdance which had everyone in awe considering what he was going though.

Alfie lives at home with mum & dad, Carla & Phil. He has two lovely sisters, Lilly Mae & Evie.

He is so excited to be an ambassador for the foundation and wants to help in anyway he can. He says he’s old enough now to help at various events.

His first task as an ambassador along with Eddie Hincks was to assist another of our ambassadors Paul Askew from the Art School Restaurant in judging the staff from 3B’s Bake Off. He was not shy in voicing his opinions on the cakes.

Alfie loves Everton Football Club and MMA fighting and golf. His mum told me she caddied once for him at golf but never again. You can see from his photo how fit he is now.

So pleased to welcome Alfie in his new role.
